April 18-19, 2026 | New Jersey Motorsports Park Thunderbolt 

Join us at our NJMP Thunderbolt Season Opener HPDE and Time Trial April 18-19 

HOD’s comprehensive training improves drivers’ car control and awareness, while fostering a community of skilled and responsible drivers on and off the track.

  • Open to Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert Drivers - All drivers welcome
  • In-car instruction available for Novice drivers

3 Sessions Time Trial Open to HOD Advanced & Expert Group, Instructors or drivers holding a current competition license / TT License (conditions permitting) - must be cleared by C.I. for this event

Classes-

Classes T3/T2/T1 are determined  by the widest tire used (measured section
width in mm, per tire manufacturer specs or actual measurement if disputed). Tires must be >100 UTQG  

TU has no limits on size or compound.

• T3: 225 mm and under

◦ Typical cars: Miatas, BRZs/GR86s, Civics, light sports cars.

◦ Adjusted max width: FWD cars may run up to 235 mm (+10 mm allowance).

 

• T2: 235–265 mm

◦ Typical cars: Caymans, BMWs (e.g., M2/M3), Mustangs, Camaros on moderate
setups, mid-power cars.

◦ Adjusted max width: FWD cars may run up to 275 mm (+10 mm allowance).

 

• T1: 275 mm and up

◦ Typical cars: Corvettes, high-power Mustangs, Camaros, 911 GT3s, GT4s, heavily
modified cars.

 

• TU: Unlimited

◦ No restrictions on tire treadwear, width, compound, or type (DOT or non-DOT
allowed).

◦ Intended for unrestricted builds, race-prepped cars, extreme tire setups (e.g.,
slicks, ultra-low TW R-compounds), or any vehicle that doesn't fit or chooses not to
comply with T3/T2/T1 tire rules.

◦ Typical cars: Full race-prepped GT3s, heavily modified exotics, time attack
specials, or cars on Hoosier R7/A7, Cup 2 R, etc.

◦ Car must comply with HOD HPDE event specific limitations such as – no
hybrid/EVs at NJMP, no Nitrous, no Meth injection.

NJMP Track Details:

Situated in Southern New Jersey -- easy drive from NYC, Philadelphia, and DC at 8000 Dividing Creek Rd, Millville, NJ 08332

NJMP Thunderbolt: The southern road circuit at New Jersey Motorsports Park is our signature Thunderbolt Raceway featuring 2.25 miles of asphalt, 12 challenging turns, a one half mile straightway and approximately 40 acres of full service paddock space. Amenities on this circuit include concession buildings, event garages, twenty (20) VIP Suites, banquet rooms, and a three (3) story timing tower with media center.

Amenities:

  • Paddock Space: For personal tents/canopies, trailers – Hooked On Driving is not responsible for lost or damaged property
  • Camping: Overnight available on-site through NJMP directly, Electric service can be purchased at NJMP clubhouse.  Entrance to the paddock & trailer dropoffs are allowed after 7:00 PM the night before the event.  Contact NJMP directly at 856-327-8000 to inquire about pre-event entry.  All vehicles must leave the facility by 6:00 pm on the last day of the event.
  • Food: On site at NJMP clubhouse
  • Fuel:  Available on site
  • Social BBQ: Will be held in the paddock after track goes cold Saturday night – Hot Dogs / Burgers / Sides will be provided by HOD NE.  BYOB

HOD Run Groups

A-Novice (Red Group)
For newer track drivers (0–10 events). In-car instructor required; lead follow available for Novice Solo drivers. Point By Passing in designated straights.

B-Intermediate (White Group) Requires prior experience and instructor approval.  Point By Passing anywhere steering is straight, no passing in corners.

C-Advanced (Blue Group)
Experienced, solo drivers. Extremely comfortable managing traffic at an elevated pace, is highly predictable.  Multiple tracks driven.  Point By Passing anywhere on track.  40+ track days

D-Expert (Yellow Group)
Highest level; years of track experience. Multiple tracks driven in all conditions, extremely comfortable going side by side with other cars in traffic and into corners, handles pressure accordingly & is highly predictable. Passing anywhere point-by optional but recommended. Must be cleared by C.I.

T-Time Trial (Orange Group) - Expert Level with Competition License / TT License / or HOD Instructors

All groups will have download meetings after their sessions  - this is where we discuss issues and solve problems as friends.

Intermediate & Advanced Drivers   $499/single day   Multi Day Discounts  &  Early bird registration available

Novice Driver                                     $549/single day  Multi Day Discounts  &  Early bird registration available Includes Coaching and Classroom 

Coach / Instructor Registration        N/C 30 days prior to event - $100 within 30 days of event

Time Trial Adder to HPDE registrations - $200 / day. Opens participation to 3 additional Time Trial Sessions - 1 Practice & 2 Timed

Time Trial ONLY -$375 / day.  Includes 3 Time Trial Sessions, 1 Practice & 2 Timed

Track Damage Defense Waiver of up to $1,000.00 - We will cover the first $1,000 of facility damage for $100.00 / day or $150 / 2 days

Limited coaching spots available – Must be cleared to instruct by C.I.

*Novice entry includes in-car coaching and classroom sessions

 

Safety & Technical

Age Requirement: 18+  (16-17 with parental waiver

  • Helmets: SNELL SA2020 or newer. No Motorcycle (MA) helmets.
    • Closed face helmets with visor are required for convertibles
    • Helmets are available for rent at $50/day includes balaclava
  • Clothing: 
    • Street Cars/full interiors: Short sleeves OK, long pants, closed-toe shoes.
    • Race Cars/gutted interiors: FIA or SFI Rated race suit, gloves, race shoes – recommended.

Prohibited Vehicles: SUVs, trucks, motorcycles, open-wheel vehicles.  Hybrid, fully electric cars and small chassis track cars such as Atoms, Exocets, and Rush are not permitted at NJMP.

  • Tech Inspection: Vehicles must pass a self tech using our  tech inspection form.  Driver accepts all responsibility for bringing a track ready car to the event.  Seats & restraints must be equal for passenger and driver. Refunds will not be given for mechanical failures or unprepared cars.  You are solely responsible for bringing a track ready vehicle to the event.
  • Drivers Track Damage Responsibility: Drivers must cover any track damage or cleanup costs they cause; fees will be charged to the credit card on file on event day.  If the track damage invoice is incomplete at event close, we may estimate damages. Refunds will be issued if our estimate exceeds actual damages. Optional Track Damage Waiver up to $1,000 available, see Event entry fees.
  • No Passengers other than HOD cleared Instructors are allowed in car at NJMP.  Passengers allowed at other venues for solo cleared drivers.  Passengers must have a passenger wrist band.
  • Passenger educational laps allowed with instructor driving – non registered participants must attain a passenger wristband at registration - $20.00
  • Convertible Policy: Must have fixed roll bar and meet “broomstick” test.  Active roll bar systems must be deployed prior to going on track.
  • HANS Devices -A certified (SFI 38.1, FIA 8858 or newer) head and neck restraint device (HANS) MUST be used by all occupants of any car with an aftermarket harness and roll bar/cage system.

Cancellation Policy:

31 days or more before an event: event fees minus a $50 processing fee will be refunded. Alternatively, this amount can be credited to your HOD account for use at another HOD event in the same region (valid for 12 months)
11 – 30 days before an event: event fees, minus a $100 per event day cancellation fee, will be credited to your HOD account for use at another HOD event in the same region (valid for 12 months).
10 days or less before an event, or are a no-show at an event, all event fees will be forfeited.

Our events run rain or shine.

Driver Track Ready Acceptance: 

Drivers are hereby informed and acknowledge that refunds or credits, will not be issued for any loss of track time arising from the presentation of a vehicle that is unprepared, unsafe, or mechanically deficient at the event. Please carefully review the NJ Chapter 62 Rules outlined below for NJMP additional requirements.

  • SUBCHAPTER 3. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR VEHICLES AND PERSONNEL: ROAD RACING AND HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOLS  
  • 13:62-3.5 Maximum Protection
  • 13:62-3.6 Helmets and Eye Protection
  • 13:62-3.7 Safety Belts, shoulder harnesses and crotch belt
  • 13:62-3.8 Seats
  • 13:62-3.9 Inspection of Vehicles
  • 13:62-3.10 Speed Limits
  • 13:62-3.11 Clothing Requirements; other than drivers
  • 13:62-3.12 Number of persons in vehicle
  • 13:62-3.13 Rollover bars
  • 13:62-3.14 Driver requirements for racing
  • 13:62-3.15 Persons permitted in the paddock, garage, and hot pit areas

Any disregard for flagging rules and safety protocols or unsafe driving in paddock or on track will be grounds for ejection from event without a refund.
